Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Course Outcome:

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Recommended Renewal Date:

12 months – A reminder letter is posted/emailed annually.

Duration:

2 hours of practical training including practical assessment. In addition the completion of a workbook, which takes approxamately 2 hours to complete.

Pre-requisite:

Student must be over 14 years of age or have written parental/guardian consent to attend.

HLTCPR 201B- Perform CPR

Course Outcome:

The outcome for this course is to provide the students with competencies suitable for the provision of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to casualties in given environments.

Two Hours

Pre-requisite:

Current Apply First Aid Statement of Attainment (or equivalent) or CPR Statement of Attainment.

Competencies:

HLTCPR 201B – Perform CPR

Course Outcome:

This course trains participants in the provision of advanced first aid resuscitation techniques, life support, and management of casualty(s), until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.

Yearly

Duration:

4 hours of practical training including role plays with assessments both oral and multiple choice written. In addition the completion of a workbook which is sent into the office.

Approximate time for completion of workbook is 2 hours.

Pre-requisites:

• HLTFA301B – Apply First Aid

• HLTCPR201A – Perform CPR or
  HLTFA201A – Provide Emergency Life Support

In general it is recommended that people using advanced resuscitation techniques have completed HLTFA301B – Apply First Aid.

Competencies:

HLTFA 404A- Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

Course Outcome:

The outcome for this course is to provide the students with competencies suitable for the provision of Advanced Resuscitation Techniques to casualties in given environments.
