This Royal Life Saving, Bronze Medallion ® course is offered through ATC, we are a co-provider (RTO provider No. 31549) for this course on behalf of RLSSQ.

The Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion Award provides the minimum requirement for those persons wishing to provide supervision and integrated rescue responses in an aquatic environment.

Bronze Medallion Course Aim

To establish competence in the required knowledge and skills, judgement and physical abilities for the supervision of people in swimming pools. The candidate must demonstrate advanced water rescue techniques working alone and as a team member.

Bronze Medallion Course Statements of Attainment

Upon successful completion participants will receive the following Statement of Attainments:

  • SISCAQU202A Perform Basic Water Rescues
  • HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Bronze Medallion Course Content

The Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion is recognised as the minimum standard for a qualified lifesaver.

The Bronze Medallion course requires participants to complete workbooks prior to the course commencement.

The course is for those completing Bronze Medallion for the first time or for those who have let their qualification expire.

The course aims to develop the level of judgement, technique and physical ability required to safely carry out water rescues and involves practical applications, assessments of CPR on manikins, as well as a theory exam.

Minimum Age Requirement: 14 years

Book the Bronze Medallion course on the Gold Coast

If you wish to be a lifesaver/lifeguard in Australia, you need to have successfully completed the Bronze Medallion course. We also offer a Bronze Medallion re-certification course (Bronze Medallion Award Re-Accreditation SISCAQU202A), open to anyone who holds a current Bronze Medallion certificate.

Bookings for the Bronze Medallion course must be done through the RLSSQ website. Download our course registration instructions from our Useful Links page then click here to visit the RLSSQ website. If you don’t already have an existing account with RLSSQ, you will need to create a new free account. From here, you can search for courses run by Accredited Training Company by using the unique course ID for each course. These course ID’s are regularly updated, so please look at the Pool Lifeguard/Bronze schedule on the ‘Course Calendar’ page to obtain the latest course ID’s.
